Solar Decathlon

Ze German hous (yes, those are solar panels on the shades, programmed to constantly be following the sun)

This last weekend marked the end of the Solar Decathlon on the Mall, a university competition to create living quarters that run solely on solar power. Germany won. Here are a few pictures. You can check out more information at www.bpsolardecathlon.com. Some of our favorite things were a wood floor made out of bamboo (apparently it's cheap to grow, but costs approximately twice that of normal flooring), a table top made out of recycled plastic coat hangers, a bathroom door that was clear and embedded with twigs, etc. They're small, so they have to be very creative with space. I want a solar pod. or two. Sorry the pictures aren't better; there were lots of people blocking my sweet shots.

Man...Washington...Good times! you have been seeing some pretty great things. I'll be honest, the last time we were there...for more than 30 minutes was during a Temple trip....so that had to have been before 2000....yikes! All I remember is Ryan saved my life...or so he claims...from oncoming traffic...anyway...Random! Thanks for keeping the pictures coming!

Looks like you all are having a fabulous time in Washington D.C.. Washington State is about the same as yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that...no cool solar-paneled houses.

My curiosity was peaked however, when I noticed we were not listed on your friend links. You do have a link named Steph and Mike. This perplexes me as to the lack of shame and attention to detail that is exhibited by your calling me "Mike". Please see your brother, MICHAEL, as to his thoughts regarding his name and the proper spelling of aforementioned name. Cordially yours, MICHAEL and Stephanie.
