Last weekend, my four-year old niece came up to me and said, "Hey, why you face all red?" I assumed she was talking about my blush, so I replied, "I'm wearing some make-up that makes my cheeks pink." Alanah thought for a minute and then said, "Why you wear make-up that looks like a rash?"
Hm. Good point. Not exactly what I was going for...the "rashy" look, but ah well...
In other news, I went to my midwife appointment this week and they took some blood samples to check for gestational diabetes. For those of you who know my profound fear of needles (and my blatantly juvenile reaction to getting shots or having blood taken), I can proudly report that they took TWO whole vials and I did not even shed a single tear. Not one. AND, I went into the void alone, no one to hold my hand (aka, have his hand locked violently in a death grip). I'm in the big leagues now.
I think I have something coming with this whole "labor" thing...

this is fantastic! I had such a funny mental picture of Lana's perplexed face! p.s. good work on the blood thing. One day I might work my way up to where you are :)
Tom didn't sign off on his account at work, slacker! This is Katie.
Well, are you rashy?
Bravo on the needles. They've deprived me of countless vials, and I still tremble at the thought of it.
Emily, you make us proud!
What? No foot race around the doctor's office? How disappointing!
You're going to a midwife? Yay! That's awesome.
My makeup gave me a rash when I was pregnant too! Something about the hormones (couldn't help that my blush was MaryKate & Ashley Olsen brand and cost $3).
I'm with you on the whole needle thing. Do not like them, and will avoid them at all costs.
And don't worry about the labor part. It MAY hurt like heck, but have you ever heard of post-labor amnesia? Most women will agree, you sort of forget how much it hurt very quickly, especially once you get to hold the precious little 7 lb. bundle of love.
One last thing, if you're planning on going au' natural (no drugs) my unsolicited advice: make sure everyone is aware of that, make it clear, stick to your guns, and my prediction is you will be soo grateful you did it ONCE you push that baby out of you. Nothing like the high of natural birthing (comes after the fact).
Thanks for the advice, Janae. Unfortunately, my blush didn't give me a rash...apparently it just LOOKED like a rash. In the birthing department, I am going natural and am starting a hypno-birthing class in a few weeks to help me with techniques. I may be badgering you with questions in the coming months....
Good luck with the needles and the birthing. My sister-in-law swears by hypno-birhing. But she said it went better with the 2nd baby cause she knew what to expect. And the labor amnesia, I certainly didn't have that. But its not gonna stop me from having more angels from heaven. Love ya!
Ha thats so funny about the makeup. I've always liked they way you have done yours.
